Enterprise to dock with U.S.S. Ars OpenForum tonight
One could say that Christmas has come early to the Ars Technica Community. Tonight the Ars Technica OpenForum will undergo its first major migration in quite some time, but before you get anxious, let me tell you what this change is all about. We're migrating to Eve for Enterprise, which is a more scalable, robust, and sturdy implementation of our current forum platform, Eve. It will look and feel the same, except that it should be faster, and suffer fewer problems. More exciting, in the coming months we'll be rolling out more features, primarily features that you told us you wanted in our forum survey from last fall.
As many of you know, we have been at the bleeding edge of the Eve platform for some time, serving as beta testers for new features and ideas (all the way back to the days of OpenTopic, which was a precursor to Eve). Now that we're part of the Condé Nast family, however, we decided that what our community needed most was a rock-solid foundation that we could count on day-in, day-out, to keep things running smoothly for you guys. This is an exciting upgrade for us at the Orbiting HQ, something we could not have done before the acquisition. So, thanks to everyone involved in making this a reality, especially you, our devoted and totally rockin' readers.
