DC.Ars: Million-Ars Club edition
Attack, retreat. Ploy, counter-ploy. For those who are into strategy, distributed computing can provide an excellent outlet to get your creative juices flowing. In this issue of DC.Ars, we're going to bring you up to speed on our last challenge and then issue you a new one with a veritable smorgasbord of choices.
About six weeks ago, DC.Ars issued a challenge in the ABC@Home project. The strategy behind that challenge was to push us from third to second or first place before the ABC project closed to prepare for the next phase. Within a week of starting the challenge, the number two team ramped up to match and then beat our daily output. About a week after that, the number one team did the same. We knew this was a possibility going into the challenge. We made the bet, cast our die, and lost. It happens.
