A Nokia Netbook? Seriously?

Microsoft (MSFT) is prepping a slimmed-down version of the forthcoming Windows 7 operating system to work on so-called netbooks. Asustek mulling a mini laptop that runs on Google’s (GOOG) Android OS. Now even Nokia (NOK) is looking to get into the netbook game. In an interview with Finnish broadcaster YLE, Nokia CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said cell phone maker is looking to diversify a bit from its core business. "We don’t have to look even for five years from now to see that what we know as a mobile phone and what we know as a PC are in many ways converging," he said. "Today we have hundreds of millions of people who are having their first internet experience on the phone. This is a good indication." Does that mean Nokia plans to make laptops? Said Kallasvuo, "We are looking very actively also at this opportunity."
