Developers Outline Changes To Windows 7 Beta
Microsoft's developers have outlined some changes being made to the Windows 7 beta before the next release. Microsoft also confirmed that Windows XP users will have two choices, but both will require a clean install. Based on user feedback, Aero Peek has been changed in Windows 7 and "needy windows" have been made more noticeable.
There is much anticipation from PC users about Microsoft 's newest operating system, Windows 7, but with the excitement comes hassle -- at least for some.Microsoft said Thursday that moving from Windows XP to Windows 7 will require a clean installation. Users will have two options -- buy and install Windows 7, the more costly option, or purchase an upgrade license. Either way, XP users will have to reinstall applications, drivers and backed-up files, and rebuild accounts.
"XP users will not be able to do an in-place upgrade to Windows 7; they'll have to back up their PC, wipe it, and reinstall everything," said Michael Silver, a IDC analyst. "While this method is more difficult and requires more technical knowledge, it actually results in a better experience overall. In-place upgrades not only carry over your apps and data, but also the malware and junk you accumulated. Large companies would never think about doing an in-place upgrade ?- a fresh install is always the best way to go."
