Mixm8 developing a virtual world for music lovers
Outso is developing a new virtual world dubbed Mixm8 for music lovers. In the world, you can meet friends, organize and attend music gigs, and create your apartment for sharing your musical passions. You can pick the furniture, art and other decor.
Online shops participating in the world include online shops such as Xpressbeats, Ninja Tune
and War Child as well as independent, alternative artists such as Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. Outso will launch a version of the site as a forerunner to the full virtual world. A closed beta will be launched in the second half of 2009.
The Nottingham, England-based company will target the English-speaking teen market at first. Outso has been around since 2005. The founders got the idea for the music virtual world by looking for a virtual world where they could play music playlists with friends. They couldn’t find one so they decided to do their own.
